FINDING OUT ABOUT SEX
A boy’s sex instruction is usually based on macho myths. Of course, they result in twisted assumptions of sexual experiences. This example, mainly influenced by sexual literature and movies, ends up being the first (and occasionally the only) information about sex education. Society gives men little guidance as to the benefits of close relationships.
Men learn how to relate to women from movies and music. Buddy Holly, a famous rock and roll singer, penned “Maybe baby, I want you tonight,” a phrase that implied females are something that should be desired and taken control of. The Beatles sent a similar message with their song “I want you.” Even the fictional character James Bond sent men the message that, to prove you are a real man, you must get a beautiful woman in your bed.
